How do I apply for a Coweta Public Library System card?
You may apply for a library card at the circulation desk of the library. You will be asked to show proof of residence, with an official item that contains your name and current address, such as a driver’s license, check stub, postmarked letter, or receipt. The first time that you use your library card, you may check out only one or two items. Once you have returned your first set of items, the standard circulation policies apply.

Library cards are free to residents of Coweta County. In addition, if you live elsewhere but work in Coweta County, you may be eligible for a free Coweta Public Library System card; to apply, you must show proof of working in Coweta County. If you do not live or work in Coweta County, you may apply for a library card at a fee of $20
per year.

Who may use my card, and what are my responsibilities?
All family members are encouraged to have their own library cards. To use the computer center, a patron must use his or her own library card. To check out books and other items, a patron may use a family member’s card—but only with that family member’s permission.

Please remember that you are responsible for all items checked out to your card. If an item that is checked out to your card is overdue, damaged, or lost, you are responsible for that item and the related fines/fees.

What types of items may I borrow, and how long may I keep them?
You may borrow books, audio books, DVDs, VHS tapes, music CDs and cassettes, and other items in the library’s circulating collections. Items in the reference collections may be used only in the library.

See the Circulation Policies page for information about loan periods.

What can I do if an item that I want is checked out?
If you are interested in an item that is checked out by another patron, you may fill out a reserve card at the circulation desk, you may call the library at (770) 253-3625 (select option 3, for the Circulation Department), or you may reserve the item online.

The library will call you when the item becomes available to you. Once the library calls, you will have three business days to pick up the item before it is offered to the next patron who has reserved the item or before the item is returned to the shelf.

What should I do if one or more of my items become overdue?
If an item is overdue, you may do one of four things:
You may call the library at (770) 253-3625 (select option 3, for the Circulation
Department) to renew the item and then pay the fine the next time you are in
   the library.
You may renew the item online and then pay the fine the next time you are in
   the library.
You may return the item to one of the book drops and then pay the fine next time
   you are in the library.
You may return the item to the library during operating hours and pay the fine.

the book drop in the breezeway at the front entrance of the library, at

What should I do if I move?
Before you move, you should ask the library to cancel your library card. You may do this in person, by phone at (770) 253-3625 (select option 3 for the Circulation Department), or by e-mail at circulation@newnan-coweta.org. NOTE: This e-mail account is temporarily out of service. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Please return all items to the library and pay any fines before you move.
