Description
Laptime is a
free 30-minute program that meets once a week for approximately eight to
12 weeks. It is designed for a 2-year-old and an adult working together.
Children learn songs, fingerplays, and pre-reading skills, and they
share picture storybooks. Registration is required.
The
registration form for Laptime is available at the front desk, in the
children’s room, and in this PDF file.*
Please return completed registra-
tion forms to the library. Children may be regis- |
 |
|
tered
before their second birthday, but they will not be placed in
a class until they have turned 2. Parents will be notified
by mail of completed registration and class times. |
At the end of each
eight-to-12-week session, adults may register their children for
the
next session if the child is still 2. Children who have turned 3 during
the session will graduate and are invited to attend
Storytime on Tuesday mornings at 10:30
and/or Family Night on Thursday evenings at
7:00. These two programs do not
require registration.

Souns program
As part of Laptime classes, the library uses an informal early
learning program for infants and toddlers called Souns. Souns
places specifically designed and sequenced letters of our
phonetic alphabet into the hands of infants and toddlers at the
most |
|
crucial age. The hand reaches out to hold, play with, and
explore the letters. With time and encouragement, the child
naturally emerges into the early stages of reading. Learning
becomes incidental, natural—and fun. |
 |
The library thanks the
Rotary Club of
Coweta–Fayette for providing the Souns materi-
als for our programs.
The Souns program is also used in the library’s
Babytime classes.
