Kids not only observed the impressive size and mechanical
features of the vehicles; they also gained a better
understanding of the purposes of the vehicles and the jobs that
their op-
erators
carry out each day to provide services within the community.
Since the
event, parents have re-
ported to library staff that their chil-
dren have been proudly identifying
the types of work
vehicles that they see on the road.
The library
thanks the companies and public safety organizations that so
generously donated their equipment and time to create such an
educa-
tional and memorable experience for our patrons. |
On May 1, more than 500
kids and adults joined library staff, public safety workers, and
other professionals in the community to see, touch, and learn
about trucks and other vehicles. This “Touch a Truck” Family
Night event was organ-
ized and hosted by the Youth Services
Depart-
ment, with staff member Michelle Freeman as the lead
planner and organizer.
Crowds eagerly explored a
wide range of vehicles parked on grounds near the library:
•

from Headley Construction
Corporation
•
cement pump
truck and cement barrel truck
from Caldwell Concrete, Inc.
•
