Vacation Reading Program

CSLP Drawing of a Bug Reading a Book

The Vacation Reading Program for children
  through age 10 begins on May 23 and
   ends on July 18.

   Children may register at the front desk or
   in the children
s room. Children who read
     10 books or for 10 hours (younger
      ones may be read to) will receive an
     official certificate and a prize, beginning
    June 16.

  Note: Teens ages 1117 may join the
Teen Vacation Reading Program.


Other summer activities include special performances for all ages as well as
craft sessions for ages 7 and up.

Other programsincluding Babytime, Laptime, and Teen Club—continue during the summer.

NOTE: Th
e topic of the July 17 performance has changed. The performance, at
7:00 pm, will feature a family sing-along, led by Jimmy Bass, director of the A.
Mitchell Powell Jr. Public Library. Kids are invited to bring oatmeal containers, coffee cans, and similar items that they may use as drums, as well as bring medicine bottles that they may use as shakers. Kids may decorate their instruments at the library before the program.
The library thanks Lee-Goodrum Pharmacy for donating medicine bottles for the
July 17 program.
